Pinehurst No. 1, dating back to it's humble 9 hole beginning in 1898, reopened in March 2008 after extensive renovation and makes this old-timer a bigger favorite than ever. With a slope from 114 to 116 it makes for great vacation golf.Pinehurst No. 2 is rated among the top 10 in the country. There have been more championship rounds played on this course since it's beginning in 1907 than any other course is the U.S. and will home to the U.S. Open in 2014. The Gold Tees have a slope of 137, but from the other tees the slope ranges from 122 to 133, so there's a game that most can enjoy without being a scratch golfer.
Pinehurst No. 3 is a Donald Ross design from 1910, a short course that ranges from 5232 from the Red Tees to just 5682 yards from the White Tees. It has plenty of character, and makes a great warm-up course for the rest of your stay. 115-116 Slope with new Bent Grass greens you will have a great game.
Pinehurst No. 4 was renovated by Tom Fazio in 2000 but still retains much of the original Donald Ross design. As a resident on a Fazio golf course I can attest to his ability to offer a fun course, but this course can slip you up with 140 pot bunkers It offers significant challenge. It has 2 of the most scenic holes at the resort, including 13 and 14, both waterholes. Slope ranges from 115 to 135. Try it - you'll like it.
Pinehurst No. 5 opened in 1961 designed by Ellis Maples. Up and down hills that follow the natural lay of the land and featuring many water hazards. You'll have you game cut out for you. Slope from 114 to 132. Be sure to add No.5 to your vacation golf.
Pinehurst No. 6, originally designed by George Fazio in 1979 and renovated by Tom Fazio in 2005, with new putting greens and new bunkers, it joins the other Championship courses at Pinehurst, the back nine is not for sissies - one of the toughest back nines you'll find. With slope of 139 from the Gold tees, it's a big favorite at the Resort.
Pinehurst No. 7 is on some of the most mountainous land in the area. Another Jones boy by the name of Rees Jones made his indelible mark in 1986 with No. 7 and came back in 2003 to renovate it to it's current dramatic play. Wetlands stretch along 4th and 7th holes. This course stimulates the mind as well as the body, get ready for an exciting game of golf, slope from 123 to 149, choose your tees accordingly!
Pinehurst No. 8 opened in 1996 - celebrating 100 years of Golf at the Pinehurst Resort. Sometimes the last can be first. Tom Fazio at the height of his career designed this Championship course for the ages, it offers challenges and fun as only Fazio can offer on his great designs. It's a great course to walk and is a joy to play. Slope 121 to 138. You can find your game in here somewhere in this range. Be sure to ply No. 8.
