Kiawah Island, Luxury Golf at The Sanctuary

If you're looking for luxury golf, you won't find any better than that offered on Kiawah Island. The Sanctuary, a Mobil Five-Star/AAA Five-Diamond oceanfront hotel at Kiawah Island, South Carolina is one of the fines golf resorts in the U.S.

Kiawah ocean course
Play The Ocean Golf Course at Kiawah (Host of the 2012 PGA) before the thundering crowds arrive, 2011 is the time to do it. It is your chance to walk the course with a caddie for the most exciting golfing experience. The Ocean Course has outrageous ocean views from all 18 holes. A very demanding course designed by Pete Dye, it has a slope of 152 and was home to the Ryder Cup in 1991. Golf Magazine puts The Ocean Course at #1 on its list of 50 toughest golf courses, if you want a better score, play one of the other golf courses at the resort. They are a tad friendlier to non-scratch golfers.

Play Turtle Point Golf Course which Golf Digest gave a “4 ˝ Stars” in the 2006. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, he wanted the player to use his mind instead of his muscles and believe me the narrow fairways, the out-of-bounds and the strategically placed water hazards will keep you on your toes. Small greens don't help, but it is one of the favorite courses to play at Kiawah.

Some of Tom Fazio's best designs are a members’ only type course and Osprey Point was designed with members only in mind. Having lived on a Fazio course I am well familiar with the playability he is able to build into his golf courses. They always offer a challenge but remain fun to play. Osprey Point is a great favorite of resorts guests, couples love it and it is ranked 10th in "Golf For Women“ as one of the “50 Best Golf Courses for Women”. It was also has been awarded 4˝ stars in Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play”

Cougar Point was originally designed by Gary Player, who was called back for a redesign in 1996 to make it somewhat easier than the original. It still offers plenty of challenge for low handicappers. It's a tight course but offers a nice blend of both short and long par 4s, varied terrain.

Oak Point was designed by Clyde Johnston, a noted Southeastern golf course architect. A shotmaker's course with challenging greens. Reminiscent to earlier classic golf courses where brains mattered over brawn. Oak Point Course is 6,759 yards with 140 slope from the back tees.

Not only is the golf a PGA dream, but you'll also find a one of the only Mobil Five-Star Spas in North America. Even Kiawah Island’s beach gets high praise, being named one of the top 10 beaches in the U.S...Kiawah Island offers the ultimate golf vacation. With ten miles of beautiful beach, giant oaks, Spanish Moss, luxury accommodations and five championship golf courses, you won't find a more luxurious spot. You will also enjoy spectacular natural beauty.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah offers some of America's most spacious and luxurious accommodations, all with fabulous balconies and most with ocean views.

You also can choose more modest accommodations in The Villas at Kiawah Golf Resort. From one to four bedrooms it makes perfect sense for golf groups. You can walk to all the wonderful amenities on the Island.
